online resources and projects
Submitted by Alex68 on 11 May, 2009 - 11:17
I'm putting together a workshop on using online reasources for developing projects for YLs in English Clubs. Reading this, does anything spring to mind?! If you have any ideas that you could share with me, I'd be very grateful. I'm hoping for enough materials for a 90-minute session that doesn't involve a list of websites that people have to trawl through by themselves.
Thanks in advance
Alex

Hi Alex,
I did a great project with a class of young secondaries using a website called Wikispaces.
The students had to produce a small website/online magazine based on topics that came up in the syllabus. this included writing news headlines and stories, writing film and music reviews, conducting interviews etc.
The result can be seen at http://s6summerschool.wikispaces.com/
The students found producing this really motivating and they produced much more English in the classes than they normally did. It was nice to also be able to share the results with their parents at the end of the course.
Hope this helps,
Neil

What about HOT POTATOES software. It's downloadable free and you can create quizzes, multiple choice questions, crosswords. I held a 2 sessions workshop about it and my collegues have started using it and they are very happy. I personally use it quite a lot.
Good luck...
