      mixed ability classes

I will be teaching a mixed ability class and i feel out of my depth. I have a few ideas but I really need some good resources which include open ended acitivities plus differentiated materials which I can use at different levels.

All ideas will be very much appreciated. Thank you

You can try out the following activities :

      WEARING A BADGE

You can write down five details, each student needs to find out about other participants. It can be, their fathers name,  their favourite dish, their favourite colour, their favourite actor or actress and their date of birth. Depending on the strength of the class, you can give around 10 minuyes for all participants to interact with each other and get to know all the above mentioned details. No participant is allowed to note down anything. After the time limit is over, ask all participants to assemble back and take their seats. Pick out students randomly. They need to stand before the class and tell whatever information they remember about the other group members.. If the answer is right, award them one point. This can be an individual or group activity. Make sure that before the game starts each participant writes down his details and gives the sheet to you with their names written on it. You can match the answers and give the points accordingly.

      WHAT'S YOURS LIKE

Send one participant out of the class. Tell the class members to think of any part of the body, external or internal. The main objective is to give the participant clues to guess which body part has the class decided on. The participants need to make it difficult, creative and funny.

For example, if the class narrows down on tongue, the participant standing outside is called in. He can go to any class member and has to put the question in the following format, David, what's yours like? David may say, it is long. He then goes to the second student and asks, Keith, whats yours like, Keith may say, it is wet, and so on. Give the candidate two chances to guess the body part. The beauty of the game lies in making it very puzzling for the participant to guess the body part.
