      I receive the British Council newsletter and it has some new lesson ideas like this week the one about the Olympics but I can't then find that on the website even under "most recent".  Any ideas?

      Secondly, does anyone know how to separate the lessons from the name of their theme i.e. climate change etc into areas of grammatical relevance so that if I want to teach the past perfect for example, I can find a suitable lesson plan based around a theme?

      I think this might be what you mean from the British Council, it's called "English for 2012" and has a selection of lesson plans on the Olympics in London.
