learner's strategeies
lahlou's picture
I do believe that a teaching approach , a method and a technique that are adopted in some areas and settings may not be fruitful in others . This is of course due to the miscellanous learning strategies as well as the learner's background. Moreover, motivation plays a determining role in the learning process as it paves the way for learners and make them fancy all kinds of knowledge. For these reasons, I have always stood up for a flexible, evolving and eclectic way of teaching keeping in mind that learners, whoever they are and wherever they come from, are genuine and clever creatures who display myriads of strategies seeking for knowledge. They may even pretend stupidity to tease their teacher or test his ability to improvise and remedy for unexpected case. A girl student acts like a clever lady and a boy students thinks like a cunning man. This is what teachers should bear in mind once they are giving their lessons.

You have made a very pertinent point. I always maintain that each batch is a challenge for the trainer. As you rightly put it, the learners can camouflage their real self and take on the role of an imposter.... !!!!!!!!!!!

Over the last 8 years, I have come across these situations during the course of my training numerous times. This is precisely where our experience comes into play. I always make it a point to put such smarties in their place right away. Before I do that, I also play around with them and in a nice way tell them not to mess around any further or they have to face the music. They immediately come back to their true self.
