How can I teach my children about stress and pronunciation?

      Hi everybody,

I'm a teacher at a secondary school. It's difficult for me to teach stress and pronunciation to my children.

Many of them don't regconize  how to put the stress on a word when I say or pronunce.

I just taught a lesson on this a couple of weeks ago, and I think it was successful.  I took a childrens story book and photocopied the pages.  On each page a decided on an emotion I wanted portrayed and wrote it at the top of the page.  Each student had  a page each and they had to think what words they would stress to give that emotion.  In order each student read their page out aloud to the class.  The kids liked it, especially the "class clowns".  As an extension to this exercise, you could change the feeling of the story, give another emotion to each page to show the contrast in with different word stress.
