      Help with pronounciation?

      Hi friends,

I am Sandeep, from India, quite new to this forum. Just 30 minutes old.
Can anyone help me improve my pronunciation and fluency. If I am able to improve to a neutral accent ( from the Indianized accent ) I will get a higher pay scale and can communicate well too. So please give me some tips or come practically to talk to me. I want to talk to some native speakers, is there any way?

I think that is my next step to improve my English to an advanced level. Hope I will get some help soon.

Pronunciation is a must to express well so that you leave a good impression on your listener. English Pronunciation in Use by Mark Hancock (Cambridge University Press) is a titanic resource to strengthen your pronunciation. Hope you'll find it useful.

There's a useful website called Forvo at: http://forvo.com/ which migh help. It's a collection of words from different languages and each one has an audio pronunciation file with it. Users can help out by adding the pronunciations of words in their language. Nice idea, but only helps at word level, not sentence. best

      Rashid,

Thanks. But actually my problem is I never learned well the pronounciation from the phonetics. I spoke not that much bad, but I myself get knew some words I spoken should have pronounced differently, but I am not able to change those in actual siutations. So that is my problem, talking is the best solution, isn't it?

Learning a new language is more difficult than a new accent, because you don't know anything about the new language i.e. a,b,c..... where as in learning accent you need little effort as you already know the language & you just have to change the style/pronunciation.

I always found it easier to learn the accent. Once you get the accent down, the pronunciation of the language becomes easier. then the language itself becomes easier.
