Hi all.
I studied and attained a bachelors degree in English Language teaching in North Cyprus. I did well and finished top of my department. I also spent my last year at university as an assistant teacher of esl at my university's college where I gained insight and experience in teaching weak groups of around 13-14 years old, and more capable students preparing to take their igcse and ielts. After graduation, this same college hired me as a teacher and I now have four different classes (one main year8, one main year 9 gce class, one writing skills class and one optional English class). A total of twenty hours a week plus endless other duties and jobs. Although a lot harder than I expected, I'm really enjoying my experiences.
I wanted to share some of my background with you all before asking my question(s)....
My problem is that I want to move back home to the UK but don't want to change my career...
What kinds of job opportunities are there for teachers of ESL in the UK?
Will my diploma be accepted or will I have to attain some other qualification to be able to teach in the UK?
How do I go about attaining any qualifications needed and looking for job opportunities?
If anyone has any information, your help would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
