Course advice

I am a 28 female changing my career and trying to break in to tefl and become a teacher, I have completed an intensive weekend course with tefl.co.uk,  i want to desperatly expand on this qualification  but would also like to get stuck in to some paid hands on teaching work aswell to increase my knowledge and experience.

I am based in Leeds, Yorkshire, can you advise me on the next step to take, the course or job opportunites you would recommend, there are so many options/ companies courses out there that gurantee you work as soon as you complete their short courses i wonder if some are as real and genuine as they potray themselves to be. - what accreditations are best to look for?

I would hate to spend money with a company for them only to provide no after support on completion of the course i.e continual learning and progression to obtain further qualifications down the road, job support etc.

I have family in Asia I am due to visit Thailand/Malaysia/Indonesia in November of this year and hope to gain as much experience here first so i am able to secure a teaching job over there and carry on gaining further qualifications while working out there.

thank you for your time and help....

The two most internationally recognised courses are the CELTA (Cambridge University) and Trinity College's Cert TESOL. I think that most people do these as intensive training courses, but there are also some places that offer part-time courses over a longer period. I expect that you'll only really be able to get paid work once you've completed one of these courses.

I don't know anything about the situation in/around Leeds, but I wish you the best of luck with your training!
