      Children songs

      Hi!

I'm looking for some childrens songs to teach in my classes. I teach english as a foreign language to 6-8 year-olds.

I'd like to find some other popular songs beside: Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes; Old MacDonald; If you're happy; Wheels on the bus

I' d appreciate your help with the songs

      Thanks

I love singing.  So do the kids!  For song ideas, I use youtube.  Check out Dr. Jean's channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/hollyndfk) which has loads of great fingerplays (which are great if you're teaching kids sitting behind desks but you want to get some actions in!) and follow the links from the songs below.  There must be thousands of good songs on youtube!

The 'number one hits' with my under 10s have been:

      - Hokey Cokey (Thats hokey pokey to the yanks!).  Let them choose the body parts and add some fun ones (bum, mouth, tummy) to 'shake all about'.  You have to be careful cotrolling the run into the middle (if your doing it) though!

      - The little green frog

You can see this on the excellent youtube channel of Pamela Sunshine .

      - Five little monkeys in a tree

      Try this version:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROXqevEFvJY

You can do this as a fingerplay :-)

      Hi,

I tried "the wheels on the bus" today, and downloaded an activity sheet from learnenglishkids

      http://learnenglishkids.britishcouncil.org/sites/kids/files/attachment/T...

but the artist has made some strange associations or wordplay.

I had some trouble explaining about the wheels going round and round.

For another source, VeggieTales have some interesting variations on the theme.

      cheers!
