Becoming a Teacher

Can anybody give me some advice.
I am currently an Accountant and I live in Spain. I have been thinking over the last couple of months
of teaching English as a Foreign Language in Spain. I have looked at the TEFL and this looks like a course
of how to teach English not what English to teach.
I am not sure my standard of English would be high enough to teach or whether I could teach. Can anybody
give me some advice. I have downloaded some information of this website and to be honest the grammar
looks a bit strange.

You first need to decide whether you seriously want to dedicate yourself to this line. Entering the teaching profession has to be a conscious choice and you are the best person to decide. It cannot be taken up purely for experimental purposes. The career of a student is at stake.
I do not know what prompted you to look at teaching the English Language. The basic principles of the English Language will never change. The methodology that you use to deliver the content needs to be interesting and thereby create the passion within each student to learn the English Language.
You need to do an honest introspection of your skill sets and your long term career objective. If you are seriously contemplating on taking up teaching as a career, I would suggest that you be a regular participant in English Clubs, if you have it there. Also try to interact with experienced ELT trainers and find out where you stand in terms of your skill sets and what should be the action plan to mentally prepare yourself to take up the challenge.
From my perspective, doing a course by itself does not guaranty success. It is ultimately your dedication which is the most decisive factor.
