      Are they commonly used?

      Hi Folks,

Are the senteces below commonly used by English native speakers? If not, what can be used?

      John: She´s beautiful!

      Mark: Beautiful and then some!

John: It takes a long time!

Mark: A long time and then some!

      Thanks in Advance!

These sound great to me. Common enough in Australia and New Zealand, and I would assume elsewhere too.

...but I think the conversation would more naturally go like this:

      John: She´s beautiful!

      Mark:(Yes,) and then some!

John: It takes a long time!

      Mark: (Yes,) and then some!

Not to be pedantic, but I think this is closer to how the phrase "and then some" is actually used.

Hmm, interesting.  I actually feel that the original is closer to how I've heard it used.

In 'a long time and then some' the first part seems to drag out a bit and as a result I think both sound okay to me (with or without 'a long time' being repeated), but with 'beautiful' I would be much more likely to repeat it than not.

I feel like a bit of the emphasis is lost when you don't repeat part of the first speaker's utterance.
