      A teacher in freedom.

Nowadays there are many theories about didactic and teacher are supposed to adopt one of these to your classes. But in many times teacher are obligated to adopt one either they don't agree with this theory, because the material or the director of the school ask for this. They have to adopt themselves and try to forget about their own opinions about how to manage a class. Is that the better way of to be a good teacher? Isn't it better for the students, teachers be in freedom to chose each way is better for theirs own students?

      Hi, dear!

I myself never went through a situation like this(being obligated to follow a determined methodology or approach) but I believe many people might have...of course it is a terrible situation because most of times you just can not adapt to something you do not believe it is the right one for your students. In my personal opinion, teachers should have the "power"to choose what is the best approach for their students(we know them better than anyone) and develop WITH them the best alternative.

I hope someday we can have freedom to choose, as you said. However, no matter what we choose, we must do it with a lot of awareness, and always have in mind that our students are in the spot...not us.

      Kisses.

Well, I work in a different context. I work in public schools in Brazil. In 2008 was created a good material - a new Curriculum for all the subjects. In English Language the material is fantastic. There are a lots of suggestions about how to work videos, musics and projects in the classrooms.

In my opinion, the learning process is changing. Because many teachers are so alone without a good material or They didn´t know about how to work different with regular students.

I think that the material can change the classrooms but We have to have an idea about how to improve it.

      Hello mare V,

Well I totally agree with you, because it's difficult to think or to face the reallity that teachers have to follow rules when giving classes and so on.. I think it's terrible to have a mechanical way of teaching grammar or vocabullary but as Fabimaciel said sometimes teachers don't know how to work with other materials or how to develop a different class, especially due to this "Created System", they work in a mechanical way... So if we think in this perspective we can notice that the System itself should be changed and then the teachers would be able to develop their own way to teach in the classroom. But I really think that following books, not every single execise or tasks, but it helps a lot the teachers to teach even with all the rules that have to be followed. Especially to the people who are starting to teach.

Well, I totally agree with you that it would be way better if teacher could choose their own way to teach, if they could do their own material... anyways, if they could have more freedom. But I have something to point out: Are they all willing to to that? Because what I've been seeing is that almost all of them are just so used to following the rules that they don't really want to change. Changing means that they're going to have much more work and responsibility. Are they prepared to do so?
