Hello colleagues and friends!
Why not to discuss OUR teachers of English? They are those who introduced the world of English language to us, who constantly tried to motivate us and get our feedback, who did meticulous preparations of lections and lessons, who always seemed to be an ideal English speakers for us.
Why did you become English teachers? Did your teacher of English somehow played role in this vital decision?
At the moment I don't work as a teacher of English, I sometimes deliver some private teaching. But still I remember my university teachers. They were perfect in what they did. We discussed world news and important social issues , read newspapers and magazines, listened to native-speakers' stories about life in Britain, got familiarised with British culture and people, learned important techniques of consecutive and simultaneous translation, etc.
Everybody was very active and interested.
Personally I think that thanks to my teachers I enjoy teaching myself and never let English language escape from my life.
Could you please share your opinions?

You took me down nostalgia. I recall fond memories of my English Teacher who had been an inspiring force throughout my schooling. She changed the life of so many students, who were labelled as below average or good for nothing cases. One quality which really stood out during her teaching, was her ability to bring out the best in the student. The whole class was treated on par which itself won the admiration of so many students. She was such a motivating and inspiring force that she used to keep on setting high benchmarks and students in due course took it up as a challenge to raise their standards. The so called school toppers who were the favourites of other teachers were left stunned, when this group of below average students beat them in all aspects of the English Language, neck, crop and hammer. Moreover it also created the fire within the average students to prove themselves in other subjects also. This is what a dedicated, innovative, disciplined and unbiased teacher can do.
Last, but not the least, I owe it to my mother who retired as a Headmistress and still remains the guiding force for me.
Hello, Olga_RF, girisheshamani, and everyone else,
You both dealt with such an interesting and significant topic.
I surely agree with you two.
girisheshamani, I liked what you said that a teacher must get the best from the student. Sounds great.
With regard to Latin, yet it may be perfectly applied to English, I have always relished working with Latin, mainly translation, from Latin into Spanish.
I think I owe loads to my teachers of Latin: all of them were very highly professional teachers. They loved Latin and that love was transmitted to me myself in some way. Even I can read Latin with not much problem - somewhat basic texts anyway. Even sometimes I send emails to a friend of mine, in Spanish, English, bad Italian and... even in Latin! It's fun as well.
If you love teaching (English) to your pupils, in spite of some problems we in Spain have, currently, regarding disruption, etc., even physical hitting or insulting, either by the parents or sometimes by a student himself; if you love teaching and making your students become autonomous learners, you will make for it. No doubt. The students notice this enthusiasm of yours. As a result often they get more interested in learning, and more motivated. Definitely.
We teachers must carry on with our great labour with people, with each singular person, and even carry over everyday likely problems.
Best.

Dear friends.
Three of you have a great concern about how the teacher to be a model to follow. Being a teacher, not only as English teacher but also other lessons, must be a model to follow for the students. It's not an easy task for the teachers to be a model for the students. Every single part of techers life become a model for the students. Keep watch doing the life and keep always giving the best model for the students.
