This is a great lesson to get in the mood for the 2012 London Olympics! There are some Olympic sports flash cards on LearnEnglish Kids that you could also use to practise Olympics vocab: http://learnenglishkids.britishcouncil.org/en/worksheets/olympic-sports-flashcards
I'm about to use this lesson plan - I really like it, but there's something missing: The first question of the reading comprehension is "How many Olympic sports are there?" I'm puzzled. The lesson plan says that there ate 26 Olympic and 20 Paralympic sports. That's not mention in the text. What is mentioned is that there are 39 Olympic sports disciplines and 47 events... Wikipedia says there are 44 Olympic sports...
There are 39 listed in the lesson plan too...
First of all, thanks for the great resource and flashcards on the Olympics. I had used it today at the lesson. I encountered some problems as well. The second handout says that "relay" is "to throw a ball over a net, but sitting in a chair?" Are you sure about this? Isn't it wheelchair volleyball?

Hi dxplorer and Victoria,
I'm going to investigate and we'll get the problems fixed very soon. Thanks very much for drawing our attention to these issues : )
