      ELTeCS East Asia

ELTeCS East Asia covers countries as diverse as Burma, China, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam – and also countries in Australasia and potentially Polynesia too. ELTeCS East Asia was the second ELTeCS list to be set up, in May 1999. Access to the Internet is widespread in some countries in the region, most especially among teachers and trainers at universities and in the bigger institutions, and then is much less widespread in other places.

ELTeCS East Asia members will continue to have the choice of receiving news in plain text format, as this is the most accessible format worldwide, but we anticipate that many will welcome the choice to receive news in a more colourful, web-based format.

The Editor of ELTeCS East Asia is Sonthida Keyuravong, who is based in Thailand. Sonthida receives news for ELTeCS from contacts at universities and in TAs across the region. If you have any EL teacher development news to share via ELTeCS East Asia, please contact Sonthida via the ELTeCS list.
