      The project
The British Council-managed project was launched to ensure that Ukraine's ELT community understands the change in the learning and teaching paradigms advocated in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

      The project includes several components:

      1. A specialist post-graduate course which aims to assist teachers of English in developing skills, knowledge and awareness as teacher educators, working in a variety of professional development contexts ranging from one-to-one supervision of teaching to facilitating groups of trainees. It also focuses on broader issues in teacher education including policy for teacher education, curriculum design, programme design and management, and ongoing professional development schemes. As part of the project nineteen teachers were awarded Exeter University's Post-Graduate Certificate in Teacher Development.
      2. Two summer schools for fifty teachers each run by the participants in the post-graduate course.
      3. A Teacher Trainer initiative to introduce an alternative INSET model.
