Dear colleagues,
I wonder if any of you have ever taken IELTS. If yes, would you share your experience with us? What results did you get? What textbooks did you use to prepare for it? What textbooks do you use to prepare your students? I don’t have such experience yet, but I’m very interested in this exam.
Let’s share useful resources here.
If your level is good enough, the best thing to do will probably be getting yourself familiarized with the format of the exam with the help of past papers. Here’s the latest one:
Cambridge IELTS 7 Self-Study Pack (Student's Book with Answers and Audio CDs)
Publication Date: 2009
Description: Cambridge IELTS 7 contains four authentic IELTS papers from Cambridge ESOL, providing excellent exam practice. This Self-study Pack provides students with an excellent opportunity to familiarise themselves with IELTS and to practise examination techniques using authentic test material prepared by Cambridge ESOL. It contains everything self-study students need in order to familiarise themselves with the test format.
The Student's Book with answers contains four complete tests for Academic candidates, plus extra Reading and Writing modules for General Training candidates. An introduction to these different modules is included in each book, together with with an explanation of the scoring system used by Cambridge ESOL. A comprehensive section of answers and tapescripts makes the material ideal for students working partly or entirely on their own.
The CD set contains the audio recordings for four Listening Tests and accompanies Cambridge IELTS 7 Student's Book with answers.
Look forward to hearing from you,
Best wishes,
Olga
