The Kerala Primary Project

      The British Council responded readily to a request from the Honourable Minister for Education, Kerala, India, and the Director of the State Council Educational Research and Training programme, for help with improving the English language and teaching skills of primary teachers in the state.

      The Singapore Teacher Development Partnerships Project

      The British Council in Singapore has been involved in large scale in-service training for the Ministry of Education for many years, but recently the two parties have developed a new and complementary partnering approach which allows for deeper, more sustained engagement with primary and secondary school teachers.

      The English for Work and Study Project, Saudi Arabia

      In this major project the British Council responded to priorities expressed by the Saudi Arabian government in relation to the preparation of young Saudis for the workplace and for study.

      The Textbook Project, Russia

      This major project, which was based on a partnership between the British Council and the Russian Ministry of Education, has had a far-reaching effect on English language teaching and learning across Russia.

      The English Language Teaching for Marginalised Areas Project, Pakistan

      The British Council responded positively when approached by the Ministry of Education with a request for help with a project that would address concerns about standards of teaching and learning of English in marginalised, rural areas of Pakistan.

      The Continuing Professional Development Project, Nigeria

      Upgrading the skills of English language teachers in Nigeria is one of the top priorities of the Federal Government. The British Council was ready and able to respond to this need.
