English teachers have been using videos in the classroom for decades and, more recently DVDs and online video clips from Youtube or Myspace. Sitcoms are an excellent classroom resource for a number of reasons.

Many of us work with groups of students from more than one cultural background while others teach largely monocultural groups of students. In both cases, there is opportunity to celebrate diversity through the telling of traditional tales, whatever the age group and profile of our students.

Partly because I was always being asked whether my books Junk and Doing it were autobiographical, I started to write a memoir some years ago on my own teenage years, 14 - 19.
