      Learning strategies

      What are learning strategies?

Well there are so many definitions that when I started reading about them, I got really dizzy. But the one it truly helped me to understand this stuff, was the one given by Weinstein and Mayer (1986) "behaviors and thoughts that a learner engages in during learning". In other words, everything a student does to learn something.

      What are Language Learning Strategies?

As an EFL teacher-trainer I needed to know what Language Learning Strategies were, so I continued researching and found this other definition given by Rebecca Oxford (1992/1993) which I hope It'll be useful for new teachers: "specific actions, behaviors, steps, or techniques that students (often intentionally) use to improve their progress in developing L2 skills." "This strategies facilitate the internalization, storage, retrieval, or use of the new language." Similar to the one above, but including the intention of learning a new language.
