Language teachers can act as good facilitators in developing the life skills of adolescents. A language teacher can communicate effectively and integrate life skill activities in the process of classroom teaching and interaction. Teachers have a larger role to play today wherein they have to sensitize the students to their adolescent problems. The language teachers can organize activities like role play, essay writing, debates in order to encourage adolescence students to share their problems, and concerns. Through these activities, the students can improve their thinking skills, interpersonal skills, problem solving and decision making skills. And most important is the development of communication skills through these activities. The teacher should be very clear of the objectives and the expected outcome before planning these activities. As language teachers are good communicators and good listeners, they can work as effective counselors for the adolescent students.

Dear Suresh,
Your blogs are always simple but highly thought provoking. So they are always chosen specially by the editor and are graded high with a greater number of votes. Though I have written nearly 20 blogs, none of them has been chosen by the editor so far. It is not a complaint but I have failed to get the attention from the editor. You are very creative and original. Your present blog like your previous ones really helps the language teachers like me. I will try my level best to be an effective counselor for my secondary students.
yours sincerely,
