How much time do you spend commuting each day? It takes me about 30 minutes to get to work, which I would guess is quite short compared to many others! My question is not really about how much time you spend commuting though, but rather what you do when you commute...
I always used to like the idea of being able to plan lessons on the bus or the train, while I was travelling to work, but it was never really feasible. Nowadays though more and more people have the option of looking for ideas online, on their mobile phones. With this in mind, we decided to set up a new mobile version of the TeachingEnglish website:
m.teachingenglish.org.uk (you'll need to be on a mobile device to access it)
We're keeping it simple for now - just teaching resources and some articles for you to read - and there are still one or two bugs we need to remove. But do let us know what you think. In fact, it would be interesting to know if you already search for teaching resources on your phone. I must admit I'm usually more tempted by the news or facebook... Anyway, I'll be investigating this in more detail later in the year but in the meantime drop me a line if you have anything you want to ask/say.
Thanks

I am a teacher of English in Saudi Arabia. I am looking for worsheets and short stories to bring to my class to enrich it. Music is forbidden so I can't use songs! My students are adult ladies so no space for games! Please recommend some resouces to make my class vivid!
Teaching English is my passion! I know teaching is not a well-paid job but I like being in the class and communicate with learners.
My day is 21 hours as I spend the rest commuting to the AlFFaisal Academy where I teach. Eager to find interesting ideas to bring to my class
I try to plan lessons in my head when I'm travelling to my classes, but usually with a book open on my lap - would be good to get ideas online too. I'll take a look at this!
I do the same! Sometimes I share some ideas with other teachers. I sing on my way back home and the rest sing with me!!!
On my way to work I often take notes of what needs to be done when I get to the workplace.
I also think about the ‘mental state’ I want or need to be in when facing different classes, as Adult students are quite different from Children/ Teenage learners.
Any mobile device that would help to be in a good state would be very welcomed. Thank you.
Lauren
I'm only 15 minutes far from work, so there's not much that I can do, really. As I also work in an office I usually dedicate that time to relax listening to music or have some sleep on the bus, but I sometimes end up thinking about the groups I have that day, mentally reviewing the lesson plans or checking what we have done so far... Great idea about the mobile site, I need to solve some configuration problems first and then I'll try it!
Best regards,
Andrés
