TeachingEnglish
Unique hard but fun and useful

I can describe my years of learning English at British Council as the most enriching experience I've had in my life and it's been a really long time since that happened.

From my own experience I can honestly say that I do not know exactly what it is I guess it depends on each individual case, for me the fact that teachers encouraged students to think in English, use mostly British words correcting every little mistake we made  teaching us everything from geography to urban legends from all over the U.K helped me understand the culture and everything related to life in the U.K.

For teachers at least the ones that I had every detail was important and you have no idea how much that helped me for the correct usage of the language. For example teachers from all over the U.K took the time to explain the different accents from the all U.K regions, they even made us practice so that if we ever went to the U.K we don't have problems in understanding.

Another thing amongst hundreds that I will never forget is the story of the Loch Ness monster we all found it so incredible even when some of my classmates didn't believe it. I would have never heard of it if it wasn't for our Scottish teacher who was so passionate when telling us why it was not just a legend ha ha, I still don't know really.

For my surprise most of the teachers didn't speak a word of Spanish and somehow they managed not only to make the class understandable, but to keep interest in learning the language. I'll never forget the "pub" not the bar, the pub, the computer lab everything  was so weird at first but I surely loved hanging out with my friends even after class ended.

It's all these why I find British English more challenging than any other  as we (in my country at least) were used to United States English but definately British English has more history, legends, expressions and of course lovely accents that make the whole experience enjoyable and unforgettable.
