Hi all - apologies for the delay in posting the topics for September 2015. Here they are.

  1. Teacher and career development - World Teachers' Day is celebrated every year on October 5th. To celebrate this event, we would like to know your feelings about being a teacher. What inspired you to become a teacher in the first place? What are those moments that happen which make it feel like a worthwhile profession? How have you evolved in your career since becoming a teacher? Who has been an influence on you during your time in education, who have you helped and how does this Where do you see yourself in the future?
  2. The learner - Needs analyses. Nearly all of us do them in some form with our new groups of students, but how do they help us during the year or semester? What do you do with the information you get from the start of the year activities? Is it enough to simply get an idea of who the stronger and weaker students are or do you do things differently. How can needs analyses at the start of the year really help what happens in the classroom?
  3. Teaching the four skills - Post-summer plans. How much of what you do outside the classroom do you bring into it? If you were going to use any one photo or set of photos that you took during the summer holidays or a recent holiday, which would you choose and how would you use it?
  4. Classroom management - Interaction patterns It’s always good to mix the class up a bit. How do you do this? Do you have systems for putting students in pairs or groups or do you let them decide? What kinds of interaction patterns work best with different activities?

Happy blogging!

Paul
