TeachingEnglish
      This week in Copenhagen

       Dear Bloggers,

Greetings from Copenhagen, It has been a great trip so far except the weather here. However, I am really happy that I have been able to run in the blogosphere as well despite the cold weather. Hope, I will survive  in the snow. As I mentioned before,  my first session of presentation went very well and I will be doing my second session with second year university students today, Please forgive me if your ears ring, I will add some useful ideas that I learnt from here. Turkish teacher sharing some international ideas (thanks to you all) in Denmark; sounds egzotic ha!

I have been attending at school practice sessions of  student-teachers in Denmark for the last two days and then found myself discussing the issues  regarding English Language teaching at dinners with Danish colleagues. Since I had my school practice here in Denmark and know the system very well, the questions were generally based on the differences between Turkey and Denmark in terms of ELT.

There might be  many aspects including structural , cultural, curricular and even visional but the most striking question came in the end from a Danish colleague:

Why do you have learners who are good at grammar skills but cannot speak English effectively?

Before getting my reply; What would you answer to this question if you were me?
