I know it is hard to believe but It has been snowing for two days here (since the blogathon started). Mostly, I prefer enjoying the snow with a cup of coffee inside my house. Last night, the view from my window was so nice that it made me feel I should keep a kind of diary in which I can make some notes of the specific moments in my life.Since we are in the 21st century and everything is developing fast with all new tools related to technology;I thought about how nice it is to keep diary, journal and personal notes with the new tools in virtual environments.
For example; Penzu is a great tool for keeping journals online. http://penzu.com/
Most importantly, you can use it with your students. That's why my title is record your learning...
We, as humanbeing, are so enthusiastic to record our life, how about using the same energy for recording our learning?
The first idea that came to my mind was that our students can write about their classroom experiences in English lesson, about atmosphere in general, teacher-student interaction, what they feel about the subject covered in the classroom and also how proficient they feel themselves about that subject covered at school....etc.
That sounds like a learning diary which is good for academic purposes .It will be online and seems more accessible with all age groups.
At that point: I have a general question for all. What kind of other things we can do with online personal journals? Plus, How does keeping online learning diary sound? Would it be effective?
I am looking forward to hearing your ideas,
Thanks for sharing in advance,

Hi oztrkozge ,
I think penzu is a great idea! I wonder whether you can share it on line??? Can people go and comment on what you wrote or is it private!!!
As I told you, I did a research and had my students blog and it was public. The most motivating thing about it was that anyone could go and comment on their blog posts. The most encouraging part for them was getting comments from me!
I compared traditional paper-based writing with on-line blogging. Blogging was really effective, it was motivating and it enhanced my students' writing fluency. It was a lot of fun and "something different" which I think we all are trying to find:-)
Thanks for the post!
Dear Karine,
as long as I know, it is a kind of personal diary so it is really personal :)
but there is an e-mail button so your students can e-mail you, as well :)
If you want something online, I agree with you, blogging is a great way to share ideas,
keep up the good work,
Happy blogging :)
Dear oztrkozge,
Right, making it private is also good feature! blogs also have that feature. I still think this is something new and might get your students working!
Dear Karine,
lovely to hear your feedback, it is worth trying. Even I have some colleagues who have their personal diaries on Penzu and their typing skills is getting awesome :)
Best,
