      Online Teacher Development

      Online teacher Development.

At the beginning the facilitators Rena and Maureen encouraged the participants to make a line according to
their teaching experience, discuss with other participants what kind of teacher development they do, what kind of teacher development they would like to have,  how much time they devote to teacher development. Also, as an open class conversation, the  participants expressed their fantasies about teacher development they would like to do.

After that the participants  worked  in the same groups. They were to think about the words which
describe "teacher development", Rena  typed the words for everyone to see.

Another issue for discussions in groups was what barriers can prevent teachers from further
development, then to choose the category (the posters with categories were stuck to the
walls, so the participants put their stickers next to the problems on the walls) the
barrier belongs to,  after regrouping the participants were encouraged  to discuss the problems of a
certain category and find solutions to them, what resources teachers  can have for these
      solutions.

After regrouping again (two participants were staying with the  poster to speak on the problems and solutions, others moved to other posters and listen to  the groups' presentations). After a short break all groups  moved
clockwise and  added their solutions and available resources to the ones presented in the posters, created
their posters by rearranging the solutions. This is a good group thinking activity which
enables participants to find really fantastic solutions.

Finally, Plenary discussion brought the participants in one group again and encouraged even
hotter disccussion of such problems as lack of time, how to find useful resources and connections for teacher development, how to use peer observations, how to make your own development constructive. Even when the session was over the participants were still sharing their experience and points of view. That means the issues raised in the session were really vital for them.
