Over the last few months I have been organising and presenting a virtual chat show in Second Life that has brought together a very broad range of educationalists from both the technology sector and from ELT. My most recent guests were Scott Thornbury (26th April) and Jeremy Harmer (3rd May) both of whom agreed to be interviewed in Second Life for the very first time.
The interviews took place on Edunation II, a virtual island, in Second Life and were recorded 'live' in front of an audience of avatars who were able to listen, ask questions and chat and reflect on the issues being raised as the interview was going on.
For me this is one of the real strengths of Second Life. It can give teachers from any part of the world with internet access the opportunity to be in the same virtual room as some of the most respected experts in our field. Also the ability to easily record these interviews means that they can be archived and shared with people who weren't able to be at the live event.
So, if you would like to listen to the interviews, then please follow the links below. The sound quality isn't fantastic and you will have to be patient if you have a slow internet connection, but I hope that you will still be able to enjoy listening to these ELT experts.
