Morning all.
Comparing is finding similarities.
Contrasting is finding differences.
One of my favourite shows is The X factor. There are youtube clips of complilations of the best, worst and funniest auditions.
1) Give pupils a chart with the names and faces of the contestants. Can make up the names. The catagories could be:
Best voice
Best look
Best attitude
Best overall performance
(Or worst. I think it's moral because they put themselves up for it - opinions please).
Pupils can either write comments or give a rating.
2) They fill it in as they watch.
3) They take 2 colours. They underline similarities with 1 colour and differences with another.
4) Teach the form: X and Y both V2 well/badly. (For look, it's good/bad).
5) Pupils make a few sentences using their charts. Do the first e.g. together.
6) Teach the form: X V2 better/worse than Y.
V2 word bank: danced, sang, dressed, performed

Dear new immigrant, I like your third advice:They take 2 colours. They underline similarities with 1 colour and differences with another. Very nice :) Besides, I love colors & rainbow;) Cool ;)
