      The personality you carry with you

      This is a wonderful activity that you can use as a warmer, a filler or a game. It can even be used to introduce yourself in the class at the beginning of the year.

      Level: It’s appropriate for lower-intermediate students, but of course you may adapt it to any level by changing the language the students should use.

      Language: Yes / No Questions, relative clauses

      Materials the T needs: 3 things (objects) important for you.

      Materials the Ss need: 3 things (objects) important for them.

      Procedure:

      • Show the objects you brought to the students one by one and ask them to find out why they are important for you making Yes / No questions.
      •  Then ask them to say something about your personality. (e.g. I think you are a person who is optimistic and childish.)
      • At the end you can explain why these objects are important for you.
      • Ask them to bring 3 objects next day to do the same activity in pairs / groups.

      Follow-up – Writing: Students can write about their / a friend’s personality referring to the objects.

      Follow-up Speaking: After the pair / group work students change their pair / group and tell about each others’ personality referring to the objects.

      Thanks for sharing dear

       I'll apply this activity in my practice. Such kind of warmers or games can stimulate better thinking of pupils and their positive reaction.

      According to  my teaching practice the usage of colourful illustrations, folk tales, legends,poems, puzzles, riddles and word games, delightful original songs and many other enrichment activities help children become active and involved learners.

      Thank you. Hope it will work well. I wonder what objects would you choose. I used a little lamp (a little model of Alaaddin's lamp), a soft frog toy and a necklace (in the shape of a red heart with a writing "Zagreb" on it) :)

      @eva @jthunder

      Nice to hear that you will use it. Planning to share some more from the same book. I'm sure you will love them, too.

      @lilit

      I totally agree with you. When once our students enjoy what they are doing, we never lose them. Thanks for the comment.

      I think this is a really good activity since students love talking about their objects that they love much and also their personality.

      I will use this as a speaking activity in the future :) For the time being, I just keep them in my mind.

      I also want to say that I'm a big fan of your personal blog :))

      Happy blogging :)
