      Simple Present Tense Revision Song

I have been teaching at an Anatolian High School in Diyarbakır and after each unit, I try to find a song related to the grammatical unit of the unit. For example, I use Eric Clapton's "wonderful tonight" to practice and revise simple present tense at the end of the unit. We can use it in 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades, all of the teenagers like listening these kinds of songs..I will share different songs for different grammatical units in my other blog posts..Here are the steps that I follow by using Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonigh:

*Prepare  fill in the blanks activity worksheet of this song like this: It_____ late in the evening She's wondering what clothes to _________ She _________her make up And ________ her long blonde hair And then she ________me _______ I _______ alright And I _______ yes, you _______ wonderful tonight We ________a party And everyone _________to see This beautiful lady That's walking around with me And then she _________me ______ you _______ alright And I ________ yes, I ________wonderful tonight I ________wonderful Because I _________ the love light in your eyes And the wonder of it all Is that you just _________ realize How much I ________ you It's time to go home now And I've got an aching head So I ________her the car keys She _______ me to bed And then I _______her As I _____________ the light I ________my darling, you ______wonderful tonight Oh my darling, you _______wonderful tonight *Ss try to fill in the gaps while watching the first video without lyrics *Then, They discuss the answers with each other *Lastly they watch the video with lyrics and sing the song together

Music is always a hit with kids and Eric Clapton is a very good choice! My kind of music exactly :-) You should also have a look at seabiscuit's blog entries about jazz songs and jazz chants. I think you'd like them!
      Cheers!

thanks for sharing! I too work in an anatolian high school and love using songs. I sometimes ask my students to bring their own songs (fill in exercises with songs photocopied for the whole class) and they like sharing their favorite music. It also enriches my music culture and I like listening to these songs as long as they are not too noisy:)
