      A bit of Social Networks

Can Facebook serve for educational purposes? Can Twitter be used as edu-tool? These questions are discussed in lots of blogs.

We all know that ICT is a great motivational tool for learners. Also it saves teachers' time somehow.

I am on the point of creating an educational field for my students where we would communicate, comment, chat, complete assignmants and so on. I had attempts to made them register on PBworks.com, but they told me they couldn't. I think it would be perfect to have some educational options on Facebook or vk.com as no ads, no spam, approved comments, option for grading tasks (a scale), etc. Why Facebook? you may say. Because students spend there lots of time and have already registered there!

As I mentioned in one of my posts ( http://www.teachingenglish.org.uk/blogs/marylu/class-blogs-think-about-it ) edmodo.com performs a role of an educational social network. But it looks a bit closed from the world. When you are on Facebook you know that about a billion of people are there...

So, my question is: Would you like to use social networks in class? (I don't mean blogs, as it's a different thing) Please follow the links to answer (copy and paste them in the address bar of your browser).

I know that in many schools using facebook isn't permitted, especially due to cpressure from parents. Edmodo seems to be replacing it.

Yes, Facebook is permitted. But I dream there to be some school students restrictions when they register; it's like School-Facebook inside Facebook. But it's only my dream(((
