      Conversation help :

Today I had my private students ( just 1 hour)

      • Interm - upperinterm.

      main problem:

      • wrong pronunciation
      • lack of basic vocabulary
      • lack of communication skills
      • upperinterm. business english vocabulary
      • small problems with grammar usage (minimum)

My problem is that I am losing my creativity  when it comes to conversation.... I need them to talk more and somedays I have a lack of questions.

I am using the Living Language english for the real world - since they liked the book and bought it

that is just one of the books I use as a guideline and its a great book for review & homework  :)

My next topic will be from apartment hunting LESSON 3

I need someone to help me

please give me your ideas about what WARM UP QUESTIONS should I ask

      I have a few:

-do you live at home or do you rent an apartment?

-If you have your own (bought) apartment, was it hard to find a place to rent before you bought this apartment?

-When you want to rent an apartment where you do search( or look) for avaiable apartments? ( internet, ads in newspapers, word of mouth...)

      - what important when searching for an apartment?( landlord, renovated or old, utilities, location, storage room...)

      -  have you ever had any bad experiencein renting an apartment?

      ................

now see this is an ok intro but if anyone out there might have any other conversation ideas before or after reading to continue this topic please feel free to add : )

After that I would do a vocab introducation and then we would do listening and then they would read the dialogue and then roleplay:

      • 2 friends are looking for an apartment to rent ( cut out from newspapers really examples of apartments for rent)
      • meeting up with the landlord, first teacher play the role of the landlord then the other students. ( discussing the rent, looking at the apartment...)

Home work pg 28 practice vocab. or do that as a review at the end of class to drill new words (probably better)

and if time is left I would like to continue a discussion.

      Dear friend,

There is a nice video-book called "On we go" all about what happens to a landlady and her tenants. The book has 30 sections with live video prgrams. I am sure your studentsenjoy it.
