Having recently decided on a career change, and in preparing for my CELTA this coming January, I have been gifted the job of my dreams, teaching English to adults in businesses. My first assignment consists of teaching four one-hour individual lessons per week, to airport staff being check-in staff and ground crew. Their levels range from A2 to B1, so I assume that what I will be teaching will be fairly basic stuff- key airport-related vocabulary, tied in with key grammar (present simple and continuous, past simple and future simple).
I have just written my first lesson plan, for a runway worker at an A2 level. I hope to cover the present simple. We will start with introductions, ' I'm...', 'I live...', 'I like...', and then I'll talk about my job using the present simple, and invite him to do the same thing. Then I will do the grammar explanation, and have him write some phrases using key airport vocabulary I've prepared, or anything he can come up with himself. From here I am a little lost as to what kind of summing up I should do. I thought as homework that I would have him recap his responsibilities at work using the present tense.
It would be excellent to have some feedback - to hear about what all you seasoned TESOL experts have to say about what I have planned, and any ideas for things to include in this lesson or any others.
Thanks
