Hi, My name is Jude. I am 58 and tomorrow I am starting to retrain as a TEFL teacher. I completed a 23 week course at Nottingham Further Ed in the UK, back in 1993, taught for a few years but then wandered off into another career. I haven't taught a tefl class since 1997 - so this will be a refresher, a reconnection with some stuff that I know and a voyage into the new ideas and theories, and technologies - available now to TEFL teachers. This blog will be my sounding board over the next month as I go through the course over the next four weeks.
During the last couple of weeks I have been revisiting some of the parts of grammar I had forgotten about.. wondering how important those will be!
I would appreciate hearing from any other teachers around my age who have had similar retraining experiences.

Hi Jude
just wanted to say: good for you! You are not the only one, believe me! Through my current work I come into contact with many mature people who are getting into teaching for the first time or coming back into it. You seem to be appraoching it in the right way. Keep us informed as to how it all goes.
I wish you lots of luck!
all the best
Jenny
