Starting a new life in Lima, Peru

Well its the end of the third month and although its not all been a bed of roses things are starting to come together here in lima. ive managed to get on a university course learning english methodology so i can teach and so i get to meet other peruvians here in lima as well!

the biggest problem im facing at the moment is bordom as im living too far from the main city centres of lima and im finding it difficult being so cut off from the kind of social interaction i was used to back in UK. though saying that i have managed to meet several friends now that live and work near miraflores a peruvian called alex and an american called bernard! the later is an english teacher and artist (painter) and the former is a manager of a central bar in miraflores! ive also managed to meet several musicians and three bands so hoping to nurture that part of my personality in music!

Hi,  I came across your blog by searching teaching english in peru. I'm looking into it and was wondering if you have any recommendations. I've spent about 4 months in Peru this year and loved it but didn't think about teaching then. Wondering if you would have any contacts with good schools? They don't list that sort of stuff online because you have to pay and go through agencies etc. I also speak spanish and french so am looking to be at more of an international school.

Any info or recommendations would help. Thanks so much!

Your message caught my attention and maybe able to help you.  I am a Peruvian living in Surco and if you are still interested in finding accommodation in Miraflores or nearby, let me know.  I used to counsel young British students spending a year in Peru.
