      CLIL

      Hello!

The holidays are nearing and It's quite hard to force myself think about anything but summer. Though June is at the same time is a perfect time to reflect on the last year and plan for the next.

I've got smth on my mind. It came to me recently when working with my private 13 year old student who's preparing for an academic year at a school in UK (secondary, not language one). We'd been practising with bbc KS3 website (maths, science and language) for a while when I realised how much different it is from teaching regular classes and how much fun it is as well - doing it in English!

I know it's quite a common practice for many schools worldwide to teach certain subjects in English (in high school). I wonder is there anything like this here, in Russia? Any place I can go and learn (schools, courses)?!

PS Unfortunately I do understand there's a huge problem. To teach smth apart from English you have to be educated at this "smth".. But isn't it a good reason for a second higher education course? )) I've been considering this option.

What do you reckon? Isn't it too optimistic - implementing clil into our reality

Glad to meet you again Galina! I’m also inspired by mplementing CLIL into everyday life and would like to share the recourse. Last year my 10-year-old son and I read “Gateway to Science: Vocabulary and Concepts” (by Thomson Heinle, Collins) and we were inspired by the book – a lot of listening, clear organization, challenging tasks, bright pictures – we enjoyed every page! My son studied the things he hasn’t learned yet in Russian and I remembered my school years, we spent some nice time searching the net together for terms, names and ideas we were not sure. I am  fully agree with your idea to learn more about it as there it seems a good opportunity to develop professionally. Good Luck!
