Over at the British Council's Film page you can read about the soon-to-start tour of films based on novels by Charles Dickens.
The information about this event is to be found here: http://film.britishcouncil.org/our-projects/this-month/dickens
What we'd like to know is this: do you have a favourite film adaptation of a Dickens novel ?

Dickens on film (and television) has been popular throughout the history of cinema and television. Why do his novels and stories work so well on visual media?
Mike
Dear Jame,
Could it be for taking attention to the majority? and if we think about his stories, novels were coming from the real events in the life or it reflects the life? just an idea ;)
Not all the novels of various writers written in a realistic literary genre became as popular as Dickens' works. The secret was in his manner of writting. He was a great public reader and a good actor. He knew how to touch the public and that's why he chose the most suitable words in description of his characters. Detail after detail he draw the bright picture of real events in the Victorian society and created very vivid images of his heroes. He had a fantastic ability for description.
This quality is very significant, because it assists film makers to reflect in the mirrow of their works the scenes of life at that period of English literature.
