      A Scot in Spain!

Hi everyone! I'm a Scot, living and working in Madrid. At the moment I'm a English Language Assistant in a secondary school, but I'm hoping to do a Tefl course in the Summer, and start out as a 'proper' teacher as soon as I can. Thought it might be interesting to share my experiences of teaching in Madrid - I promise to try and blog only about positive things!!!

Today I gave some students a cultural lesson, using Burn's Night as the theme. Teaching them some Scots words, and listening to them using the new vocabulary in dialogues they contructed themselves was priceless!! I think some of them actually really enjoyed listening to some bagpipe music too, which made my day!

Anyway, just a quick introduction to say hello from Madrid, and looking forward to sharing more experiences and ideas in the future!

Happy Burn's Night on the 25th!

      How's it going?

I'm a Scot too!  Studying mostly, but also helping out as a language assistant in a high school in Oviedo.  I'm planning a Burn's lesson for this Friday too - looking forward to it, hearing the positive reactions you've had.  Hoping to extend it a bit with a possible dance lesson (the Gay Gordon's is the only one I remember) as soon as I can get my hands on some celidh tunes.
