      28 days later

I have been reading the last posts of bloggers for an hour and I have the similar feelings with my colleagues. The last hours of the last day of ELT Blogathon 2011 reminded me the movie 28 Days Later. You might find this image weird and I know the only similarity is the number 28, but if we look at one of the taglines of the movie, we can see another mutual point. I want to make my last comments about blogging using this tagline :

      ''Day 1: Exposure - Day 3: Infection - Day 8: Epidemic - Day 15: Evacuation - Day 20: Devastation''

This is the tagline I am talking about. We have not gone through all of these steps but I want to take your attention to Day 1, Day 2 and Day 3.

Some of us-including me- had concerns before the blogathon, but from the very first day we were exposed to various posts on different topics. As we read and write, we were infected from each other and blogging became like an epidemic, illiterally of course. I am glad that I have this infection, for it encouraged me to express my thoughts and experiences regularly. I have been following different forums on ELT, but this experience was different from them in that I was looking for the new topics and comments on the blog page. Sharing the problems and looking for the solutions were very helpful. I tried some of the new activities and methods I learnt from other bloggers. Moreover, some bloggers really inspired me with their personal and professional accomplishments as well as their posts on the blog.

As Eva stated in her last post, it is a wonderful activity especially for those of us who work in small towns where there is no possibility of improving yourself in different fields. I feel happy for not being evacuated or devastated for I could establish a certain level of interaction with the other participants. I think everybody has taken advantage of the activity. I have longer list of bookmarks and twitter pages now. Actually, it is afetr this blogathon that I started to use twitter to follow people in ELT :))

I would like to thank everyone for their sincerity and help. I should also give my special thanks to British Council for giving us this opportunity and to guest bloggers for guiding us with their sample posts.

Happy blogging in the future and have a nice school term.

Great post summarizing the process and the ending so well! You have been an inspiration yourself and hope to keep in touch withall participants here. I have created my Twitter account thanks to Blogathon and now following and being followed by people in the ELT world. That's amazing to see how many things a person can learn just in 28 days, isn't it? :)

      Dear Bluering,

Whether you live in a small town or a big city, wanting to improve is a mindset.  Unfortunately, in a small town you will be isolated from a professional group.

I think more than the prize, that is what everyone who joined the blogathon wanted, to try out blogging, to test their skills, and to improve. The additional prize, the cherry on top, was making and building connections with other marathoners.

I enjoyed your posts. Monitoring and Choices were my favorites.
