Classroom Action Research

A lot of English teachers are doing classroom action research in my country. I happen to be one of the instructors. Many of them have asked me the same question: Since classroom action research is a qualitative research which emphsizes the study of teaching process instead of quantitative result of the research, is t-test needed to see the significant difference of students' achievement between cycles of a classroom action research?

Cheers,

My answer to the question is: No! Since Classroom action research is a qualitative research which emphasizes teaching and learning processes instead of students' score gain, the use of t-test to see the significant difference of the students' score gain is not needed. How small the difference of scores gained by the students should be explained to know the factors inflencing the change of the scores, whether the change is an increase or the decrease or no change from one cycle to another cycle.
