Songs and simple past tense (1)

Using songs can be a good idea when you want some grammar points to stick in students' minds. This is a song I like to play while teaching the Simple Past Tense. As a bonus there are many irregular verbs in it. If your class’ level is pre or upper intermediate, you can also ask them to try to guess the words in blanks before listening to the song.
You can watch the video at this address.

When I taught at a language course, I used the song called 'USED TO' by Chris Daughtry to teach 'used to' :-) Wonderful song with great lyrics.
As long as you choose the right songs for the level and age of students, using songs is a thing of beauty!

      Dear Ayşe,
I also shared some songs that I use in my lessons related to the grammar topics, perhaps you can have a look at them. For simple past tense, I mostly use "you left me just when I needed you most" song and Mary Hopkin's "Those were the days"..I also liked Bang bang thanks for sharing it I will use:) bests

I'm going to try this but with a twist. This song was used in quentin tarantino's movie "Kill Bill". If you search for it on Youtube, there is a remixed version complete with video with movie extracts. I hope it makes it a bit "cooler"!
