      Blogathon Strikes Again !

      Hello everyone,

      I love participating in the Blogathon because reading about experiences and ideas of other colleagues energizes me and provides lots of interesting suggestions to be tried out. When the idea of “blog” and “marathon” comes together, the amalgam is not a race anymore because in the end everyone wins. I really like the reflection of this metaphor in my mind. It reminds me of all other metaphors. I would like to share some of them with you:

      Bee hive- It is the picture in my mind for the actual classroom because students and teacher need to work together in collaboration. In the end the outcome is sweet!

      A roller coaster- One of my favourite metaphors is this one and it represents using Information Communication Technology (ICT) in the class. It is very enjoyable, interesting, motivating but there are turns and spins, ups and downs that one should be careful about.

      And right now my metaphor for blogging is a window that has the potential to show other worlds to me and reflects my own to you.

      Hi

      I definitely agree with you all the blogathon runners will win in the end. This four-week long journey will enable most of us to share, learn and update ourselves.

      And my methaphore is the kitchen where we teachers prepare delicious meals to nurture our kidds..

      Hi Aslı,

      Window is really a nice metaphor.

      What about a "tree"? All the bloggers compose of the tree as different branches.

      Maybe next competition can be a logo competition for the blogathon. Why not?

      Hi everybody! It is nice to be here with so many participants. I'll be very glad to share my thoughts, ideas with you. I think that blogathon will be very useful and effective both for me and my students. Here we'll develop a more open attitude towards new ideas and viewpoints. So learning makes wise,live and learn.

      After reading your posts, I have just made myself think about what my metaphor could be.

      Then, I found this: RAINBOW :)

      Different colors in one place and different teachers in one place (Blogathon 2012).

      Rainbow seems really nice with all colors so is the blogathon with different and unique participants.

      I am sure this year's blogathon will give me the joy of watching rainbow in the sky; In the same way, I will be enjoying to read all teachers' ideas :)

      True - everyone wins something in the end. It wouldn't hurt to get an all-expenses paid trip to wonderful Glasgow either - now would it? May the best contestant win! Good luck!

      Dear Asli,

      Thanks for this great post. I really like the metaphors you shared. Here is mine: I think blogging can be a snowball getting bigger and bigger as long as you go on sharing. I think I'm very much affected by the snow started in Istanbul this afternoon:)
