Some notes on art of story telling
Before telling the story , especially when students are in a mood I ask them to take notes of what is said by me or questions raised by other students. Of course I write all the new words and slangs with good explanations in English on the board and if necessary, only for complicated words, in their mother tongue (Persian).Students in groups of 5 to tens have already been assigned for every pre- divided parts of the story so as to write down the most important theme of their parts. This makes them involved in careful listening and taking notes. When the story is finished it comes their turns to retell it with their words .Sometime when we have different rolls in the story , one of the boys or girls in every group whose English knowledge are better than others can play the role of characters in the story according to their abilities and likes-I mean the roles they are mostly good at . Groups' works are evaluated by themselves or in disagreements by me. This method is helpful for managing the class well as every group is rivaling with one another rather than having conflict and are motivated to learn english.

The best group will be awarded either by better marks or something bought by students, eg. Ice ream.
