About the webinar

This webinar presents materials from an online toolkit on assessment and discuss the research behind it.  The training materials cover:

  • assessing level and the CEFR
  • assessing young learners
  • assessment for learning
  • language assessment for teachers

Suggestions are be given as to how these materials can be used for self-study or as group work. There is also discussion about the focus group interviews of EFL teachers based in Europe. We asked what the teachers wanted to know about assessment and how this information should be best presented to them. The webinar concludes with the key findings of the project.

About the speaker

Susan Sheehan is Senior Lecturer in TESOL at the University of Huddersfield. Her research interests include assessment, language assessment literacy and teacher cognition. She is a regular presenter at international conferences. Susan is the course leader for the BA TESOL courses and teaches on the MA TESOL. She is the co-author of the paper: What does language assessment literacy mean to teachers? ELT Journal, 73(2), 113-123. doi:10.1093/elt/ccy055.

They take place in Zoom. You do not need any special equipment to watch the webinars apart from a computer with the audio on.

Certificates

  • At the end of the webinar in the chat box
  • In the 'Thank you for attending email' that you will receive 1 day after the webinar.
  • At the end of the feedback survey once you have answered the questions.
  • You should type your name on the certificate and download it. We recommend using Google Chrome or Internet Explorer to do this.
  • You can not edit or download your certificate from a mobile or tablet device.
Copies of the presentations

Where possible, we will make a PDF copy of the presentation available for you to download. However, for copyright reasons, this may not always be allowed.
