This lesson is based around robots and will encourage students to talk about how science is developing and influencing our everyday lives.
To introduce the topic there is a simple drawing dictation for students to do in pairs. The end product is a simple line drawing of a robot to introduce the topic. Students then brainstorm jobs that robots could do for them in the home. There is a discussion about the portrayal of robots in film, a reading task, which looks at the development of robots and what the future might hold for them. There is then a speaking activity where students discuss how technology has affected their everyday lives, where they can review past, present and future verb tenses. Finally students have the opportunity to design their own robots in teams and present their designs to the class – this can be a flexible activity depending on the level and age of the group.
