This programme visits Clare’s lesson, where she encourages her class to speak and interact as much as possible.

We hear how she organises her lesson around the subject of a short story they are going to read - The landlady by Roald Dahl.

During the programme, Clare introduces a number of different activities to engage her students, such as speculating about a series of pictures to create interest and vocabulary before introducing a story. We also hear about a running dictation activity, a team quiz and how she gets her students to inventing a radio ad in small groups.

Download the teacher support worksheet below to help you find ways to use motivating speaking activities with your students.
