The British Council's teacher educator community is an online platform where teacher educators can meet together to share ideas and learn from one another.
Thursday 27 June marks the first anniversary of the community for teacher educators. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for supporting the community and making it a success. We couldn’t have got here without our members' contributions.
Anniversaries are a useful time to look back over the successes and learning points from the year and also to look forward to planning the year ahead. To mark the community's first birthday we have produced a short review of the year which you can find below and is free to download.
In our second year we are planning to introduce new topics. We will be providing a short questionnaire in order to collect ideas from our members, so that the activities we organise truly reflect our members needs and interests.
Coming up in the next year:
- A series of discussion topics and webinars based on your suggestions
- Teacher Educator Activity Groups to meet once a month online
- A ‘help corner’ where members can ask for advice on anything relating to their teacher educator work
- Interviews with members
- Member stories
Is the community right for you?
The Teacher Educator Community is for teacher educators who work in a variety of settings and contexts – pre-service, in-service, online and face-to-face. They include teachers who deliver training workshops to their colleagues, teachers who mentor new or less experienced teachers, full-time teacher trainers and senior education consultants.
Join the community to connect with other teacher educators on a wide range of innovative topics from developmental observations to Continuing Professional Development activities. You will have the chance to receive mentorship from other teacher educators for further support, connection and development opportunities and receive a newsletter, published every month, which helps you to keep up to date with the latest resources and ideas in teacher education. You will also find a range of Continuing Professional Development activities, such as:
- discussion groups on topics of interest
- opportunities for action research
- special interest groups
- sharing of authentic resources
- access to a set of useful links
- live webinars
