For many practising supervisors and teachers across the world, observation and feedback are key parts of the education and evaluation process. However, these important skills are not always given the recognition they deserve and relevant training often seems to be the exception rather than the rule. Additionally, for many participants, both supervisors and teachers, they are seen as being summative rather than formative or developmental.
This webinar provided the opportunity for those involved in observation and feedback to discuss the challenges they have faced during the process. The way in which the experience can become more formative for those involved was also discussed, as well as the importance of building links with continuing professional development.
About the speaker
Amanda Howard has been an English language teacher, teacher educator and university lecturer in TESOL and Education for many years, working mainly in the Arabian Gulf and the UK. Her research interests focus on teacher development and evaluation and she is currently a visiting researcher at the University of Leeds. Amanda is also the Founder of Corinium Academic Solutions, an educational consultancy based in the UK.
