On Friday 6 November, Nuala Trace and Michaela Salmon (Manchester Adult Education Service) will present ‘Talk English’, which won the 2015 Eltons Award for Local Innovation. The project trains volunteers to deliver and support English courses and activities and helps people with the lowest levels of English build confidence and learn English. They will share details of how the project can be replicated with support from the Talk English website.
On Thursday 19 November, Dr. Sandie Mourão will look at the teaching of English as a Foreign language in pre-primary education and share the results of a British Council ELTRA funded project which investigates the effectiveness of incorporating an English learning area into the children’s play options.
On 15 December, Bríd Ní Chatháin will discuss how to improve reading comprehension for learners with dyslexia. She will explore some of the difficulties and suggest practical strategies and techniques for teachers who want to support struggling readers.
